Illustration for the 99Designs 2023 calendar. I believe every park in the world has its own old lady feeding pigeons, and is a scene that always feels peaceful and nostalgic. I used the colours of sunset to contrast the blue hues of the pigeons and because they create these brief, magical moments that make you pause and appreciate little moments in life.

Design a page for 99D 2023 calendar - New year, same dreams, fresh starts.

The idea for this illustration came when I read the theme was ''hope is on the horizon'', I thought I would make an illustration with a beautiful sky full of stars. Then looking for some references including new year's quotes, and I found a quote by Edith Lovejoy Pierce, ''We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day". Which brings me to the main idea of the illustration I made, with a woman standing-opening the door of a large book, where 'we will put words on them ourselves'. The books below describe the years she has gone through, and the books behind the main book which are still standing are illustrations for the years to come. New year, same dreams, fresh starts. I hope you get the feeling I bring to this illustration :)
